Short Stories

I've always had a love-hate thing for reading and writing short stories. They're quick to write. But you have to be concise. They're a snapshot in time. But the moment I feel like I'm understanding the people, the story ends. They can verge on poetry, they can be an impressionist sketch, they can be deeply evocative. Argh! How to decide!

Anyway, here are a few I wrote - mostly for fun (and when I wasn't trying to cram something huge into half a page) and some have won or been listed in competitions. Here are also a few short story starters for your own writing.
